Sterling is a big boy with an even bigger personality. He's a 1 ½-year-old pit bull mix with a handsome black brindle and white coat. He is a goofy guy so a family with a sense of humor is a must, say Animal Services staff. They also say he is excited and eager to see and investigate everything.

Sterling can easily be distracted but is social when interacting with human and other dogs. He has a playful, up-and-boxing style of play with other dogs, but has not shown signs of aggression. He loves to give kisses and has an abundance of exuberance and love.

Shelter staff say he doesn't have much in the way of manners yet, so mandatory training will help Sterling learn new things and form a strong bond with his new family. If you have pit bull experience and are looking for a new, fun, outgoing family member, look no further.

If you are interested in adopting Sterling or another companion, or are looking for a lost pet, come to the Animal Services shelters or view the animals on our Web site at http://www.scanimalservices.us. The Santa Cruz Animal Shelter is in the Live Oak community at 2200 Seventh Ave. on the corner of Rodriguez Street and is open from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday, closed from 1-2 p.m. for lunch. The Animal Services Watsonville shelter is at 580 Airport Blvd. and is open from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday""Saturday and closed from noon-1 p.m. for lunch. For further information you may contact Santa Cruz County Animal Services at 454-7303, ext. 0.
