SEATTLE -- A couple has been charged with animal fighting and firearms charges in connection with a dog fighting operation in South Seattle, police said Tuesday.

Erich Hvon Daulo, 30, and Tammy Thanh Nguyen, 35, of Seattle are both charged with animal fighting and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the first degree.

Seattle police said the case began with Seattle Animal Shelter investigating neighbors' complaints of dogs tied up and barking in the 4200 block of S. Kenny Street near Seward Park. Another complaint led to one of the dogs being recovered by a Humane Animal Law Enforcement Officer who noticed scars covering the dog's face.

The Washington State Gambling Commission and the Seattle Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force investigated. Officers found the suspect's website described their pit bulls having the bloodlines of famous fighting dogs and advertised dogs from these bloodlines for sale.

Undercover officers set up a meeting with the suspects at a grocery store to purchase a dog for the intended purpose of fighting. Daulo allegedly showed photos and a video of his dogs fighting on his phone to the undercover officer.

Daulo was arrested and search warrants were served on his home, vehicle, trailer, and his mother's home.

Five dogs, kept in what was described as deplorable conditions, were rescued by officers. Authorities seized four guns, dog fighting training devices, and $26,000 in cash.

Police say Daulo is a convicted felon and had two active Seattle warrants for his arrest in the system from 2008. Police say he moved back to Seattle last month after hiding in Louisiana for the past seven years.

Court documents say when Daulo returned to Washington state, he used his brother's identity to evade arrest and admitted trading puppies for guns while in Louisiana.

Daulo's bail was increased to $75,000 from the $15,000 set at first appearance.

Tammy Thanh Nguyen is out of jail after posting $20,000 bail.

Both suspects will be arraigned on August 10 at the King County Courthouse.

No BS, on another forum I saw him saying he recently moved to Seattle from Louisiana and was looking for other "dogmen" in the upper NW. He didn't last very long up there. That was just a couple weeks ago.

Question: if in the process of selling the pup, he mentioned the pup was from working lines, but not intended for fighting, and if he hadn't shown the video, would they have had enough to bust him? The dog in the pic looks healthy to me. Living close to neighbors makes chainspots less desirable if the neighbors can look out their second floor window and see your dogs. The guy laid low for seven years, then made himself too conspicuous.
