Eli and Jeep dogs...

What do you think are the major characteristic differences between the two lines? What would you prefer to hunt with and why? YIS, DJ.

 

I would prefer Eli... Not taking anything from the jeep line of dogs because their great dogs but i just think Eli dogs are the total package, and if they are lacking something you never have to leave the eli family to correct it or bang your head to wonder what would be a good cross... JMO

 

Eli and Jeep are pretty much one and the same its just that most Jeep stuff has been crossed with Red Boy blood to the point there is little pure Jeep left.

 

One thing about the Jeep dogs i have owned is that they tend to produce well when bred to almost anything. You can keep it tight and still have good all around dogs making it a pretty predictable line.

History has proven that Jeep blood mixes well almost any line because that line is so closely related to most other top notch lines. When you do an outcross to most lines its still a "family" type breeding carrying the same foundation blood. When you do a complete outcross to unrelated blood its not always so predictable, as with all lines.

I also like the fact that the Jeep dogs arent known to throw large sized dogs and most are in my prefered weight range 20 lbs-50 lbs.

 

Both dogs have been dead for a long time now. What you're going to see, depends on their grandsons/daughters (at best) you're breeding off of. Again "who bred them, and why?". I've utilized more "Jeep" dogs, than "Eli" dogs for what water that holds.

 

considering "jeep" is a great gr son of "eli" himself it might make for better discussion if this thread singled out a specific breeder who ran inbred eli dogs in comparision to another breeder who choose to further the "jeep" dog as a line. for example :bobby halls eli-bullyson dogs, and Casinos gator tab blackjack dogs.

 

well i will say jeep was a carver eli dog basically and i will say most eli dogs from my imo are 40 min hard mouth curs if you can out last the 40 mins or so u could come out on top most the time although seen them take out many in short fashion but most the jeep dogs of today are crossed but the heavy bred jeep dogs do make great cosses and i must say i seen only few hard mouthyed dogs out the jeep line or its crosses but almost all were game i do like eli dogs down from clemmons nigger toby and t-bud stuff with was zebo eli i also like the pdk stuff with was crenshaw eli carver friso aligator struff all in one some very awsome dogs either way i would own any them that is for sure and do lol

 

i'd like to hear other peoples opinion on this as im still learning the characteristics of each bloodline.

LOL how long and how many dog have you seen to make a crazy statement like that I have seen dogs from all lines and as far as I have seen one of the best was a pure bullyson dog. People may be telling you them dogs are eli dogs but you need to know you have eli dogs that is the flavor of the week. THEN you have real eli dogs. YIS J

true there are good and bad dogs of every line no doubt but most are rugh curs from what i seen i said most not all and from what i seen to be honest were some the best bred eli dogs out there but anyhoot the ones that i seen were good would probly be enuff to make u a beliver i am not knocking eli dogs as 1 of my my best dog i have is a eli crossed male and he got more mouth then i ever seen on a dog and that is my honest opinion and yes jeep is a 4 way cross bro

 

Most dogs are currs any way of every line, But I am not sure what you seen but for more bang for your buck Id take a good cowboy dog any day, And for the record eli dogs are as game as any other strain of dogs and thats not just a opinion thats the truth! J

well i do like the the a few them and i do own 1 that i said is one my best dogs i guess i just seen a few curs that kinda made me lift a eye brow but in the end i think i would chose a heavy bred jeep dog over a heavy bred eli dog but it all depends on the dog also

a good bitch means alot to a breeding, but come on she was bred to all quality/talented studs. ch otis ch bo ch rascal rascals bro oso negro gr ch zebo(suppossedly) and the trim moody dog all winning dogs.

 

That what I would do also if Things were like that now, Thats the name of the game. No one told any one they could not take there best bitch and breed to the best all it is is time and money. J

 

Im a fan of Honeybunch dont get me wrong but can we see some peds of some pure "Honeybunch" dogs that are doing well today?
