"New restrictions or even an outright ban on tethering dogs in Gastonia could be enacted within a few months or less.
Gastonia City Council members haven’t decided how far such a new ordinance should go in restricting or disallowing pet owners from tying or chaining dogs in local yards. But they have given a clear indication that they plan to follow the lead of other cities across the state that have crafted laws to discourage the practice."

Right now it is the city council. Next it will be Gaston County. People in the area need to attend the council meetings and tell the council members to regulate tethering. The owner of the animal is the person who would know best how to contain a dog on his land. Each dog is an individual and the same methods will not work for each dog. Show them that responsible dog owners use tethering to contain their animals to there property.
