FL: Orange County man cited after wounded dogs found living in bad conditions

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

More than a half-dozen dogs with open wounds on their legs and faces, were found living in filthy conditions despite visits by Animal Services, according to reports.

Even though Animal Services had been to the Winter Garden home 12 times in four years, the owner, Raymond Williams, was only given a citation.

Even though Animal Services had been to the home 12 times in four years, the owner, Raymond Williams, was only given a citation.

A report from Orange County Animal Services said there were nine dogs being held in primitive cages. Most of the dogs had fresh wounds.

The dogs were tethered to trees in the middle of a yard littered with junk, reports stated.

One dog was brought to Animal Services to be euthanized.

“It’s horrific. It’s despicable. It’s literally disgusting,” said Tanisha Branchick of Passion for Pits, a rescue organization.

She saw the same injuries Animal Control officers described in a report.

“All of the animals there had old scarring. Some of them had fresh wounds on the heads, the face. All of them had scars on the face,” Branchick said.

Deputies documented rolled up panel fencing, which is often used to create a ring, or a pen, to contain dogs for dogfighting.

They also documented high-performance dog food, commonly fed to dogs used in dogfighting and rubber inner tubes used to strengthen a dog’s neck and jaws.

A dog named Pike had severe damage to his jaw and had to be put down.

Animal Services said without a warrant, it would need to witness an active dogfight to take the rest of the animals, something Branchick disputes.

“If they feel like an animal is in danger, if they feel like it’s not great conditions, they’re able to go ahead and take the animal,” said Branchick.

Animal Services and the Sheriff’s Office said the criminal investigation is still ongoing,

Williams was arrested last month on charges of domestic violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.
