TROUP COUNTY, GA (WTVM) – The Troup County Marshal's Office has confirmed that 19 dogs were rescued following an investigation of a dog fighting ring.

A patrol officer received a tip of a dog fighting ring on Roanoke Road and 10 pit bulls and 9 puppies were found at the home Wednesday morning.

Deputies say these dogs were in severe condition and many of them chained to fences inside of the pin some even tangled within themselves deputies say the property was covered in feces and dog fighting paraphernalia.

The marshal's office tells me all of the animals were seized by animal control and are now being treated back to health and they say they did not discover any dogs that were deceased on the property.

No one was at home when the officer rescued the dogs.

This incident is under investigation and a $5,000 reward is being offered for anyone who may have information on the dog fighting incident. Call the Troup County Sheriff's Office at 706-883-1616 if you have any information.
