"Since his birth, Snuppy has caused a lot of controversy

There has been more than a year's worth of controversy and debate since Snuppy the Afghan Hound entered the world, but today marks his first birthday, and K9 Magazine is pleased to report that the world's first cloned dog is in rude health.

Since Snuppy's birth, the professor behind his creation, Hwang Woo Suk has been stripped of his post at the Seoul National University amid allegations that parts of his research into other areas had been falsified.

Regardless, the scientific community always accepted that Snuppy was the genuine article due to the rigour of research and evidence that supported the institutes claims to have become the first to clone a dog.

Snuppy celebrated his big day by getting stuck into a birthday meal consisting of his two favourite foods, ice cream and sausage. Despite his sweet tooth, he is a healthy 64 pounds, and is considered to be a very healthy, normal Afghan Hound.

To give Snuppy's birth some historical relevance, on the day he was born Peter Kay and Tony Christie were enjoying the fifth of their six weeks at number one with 'Is this the way to Amarillo?', whilst Chelsea FC were just one game away from winning the FA Premiership for the first time in their history.

Why are they calling the dog Snoopy? His name is Snuppy (snuh pee).

That would be great, to be able to clone your favorite dog that way you have them for a little while longer.

With the ammount of peddling of your dogs you do on hoobly.com I can imagine you want to continue breeding the balls off your dogs. When did you breed "Bud" for the first time, 9 months old? You've probably got a good 9 years of fertility ahead from him....dont stop now, theres still an empty cage in a shelter somewhere!
