Well I'm not ragging on your friend but if he thinks Rattler AKA chance is an English Bulldog than he has a lot to learn. Sure Grip Kennels has been breeding some of the best AB there are for many years. They have many SHutz. titled dogs and even a couple of Ring dogs. Trust me they are AB all the way.

The dog in White Fang is a Stadfforshire Bull Terrier.

I have never been around a Staffy Bull, never knew anyone that owned one. I've heard nothing but good about them, very much like APBT's from what I've read and heard. Am Bulls are great dogs too....

    ****Edit****
I'm such a doofus, got this thread confused with the one I started about what other breeds people like.....

I loved my AmBull. Very athletic drivey dog. Great in the house and with the kids. However he would eat your a$$ if you came in uninvited or touch my wife or kids in the wrong way. Of course he was a ring dog that did protection work three times a week. Also when he was a pup you couldn't not wear shoes around him. He was pure prey drive and socked feet were just too irresistable to him.

Also I am cinsidering getting my son a SBT(working) for his first dog. Friend had one and he was awesome. Very scrappy little dog. I had another friend that had a UKC show type pitbull. He was like 65 lbs. We were standing in his front yard with my other friends SBT who was like 28lbs. Well his pitbull pushed the glass door open and jumped on my friends SBT before we could stop it. Big mistake. That little dog beacame Satan himself and sent that big cur running back to his porch in about 5 seconds flat. It really crushed my friend who thought his showdog was the baddest thing ever. I tried to tell him. All I could do was laugh.

  7. i also vote that you watch where the red fern grows, but i would recomend the original movie instead of the new one out from disney they are both pretty similar but the new one from disney is more pc than the original,on certain things like the hunting and such.in case you didnt read the book,it's set in oklahoma and it's about a boy named billy coleman who lives on a farm with his mother and father and 2 sisters, his grandfather owns the general store in town and the boy wants 2 redbone coonhound pups so bad he cant sit straight.it tells you how he works hard for a couple summers to save up enough money to send away for them and then it take you along with him from when they are tiny pups all the way through adulthood.very good clean movie that the entire family will enjoy.

No I didn't. I don't think they even lived anywhere close. They may have not even been alive then. That was just what his parents and grandparents said. That was back in the 80's

  13. oh ok,but at least you knew some of the family.i think he passed quite a while ago,but i think that the missus is still alive but not 100% sure on that.

I was trying to remember the name of this movie the other day...it's been quite a few years since I've seen it and I remember it being pretty good (from what I remember). It was about a boy at the early part of the 1900's who had a wolf (hybrid? Can't remember) and he matched it...the first upset he encountered was from a brindle APBT (I think). I don't remember the movie being violent or gory or anything like that- I saw it way before I started rescue- and it didn't make a negative impression, I remember it being a pretty good movie. I'd like to see it again, but I can't remember the name of it. Any one know what I'm talking about? :o

White Fang based on the Jack LOndon novel. The brindle is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Redbone Coonhounds, I've read the book about 3 or 4 times and own the movie.

" Chance " is absolutely an American Bulldog, I've seen ads for his pups in the back of Dog Fancy.

I love the movie White Fang, even more than the book. There's another movie with that dog in it called, " Journey to Naddi Ghan " or something like that, it looks good... I've never found it though.

I've read Call of the Wild several times, it's one of my favorites, the movie sucks though. I saw the book Old Yeller in the grocery store tonight and almost bought it... I think I might go back tomorrow!

Come on, there's got to be some Diamond in the Rough dog movies I haven't seen! Has anyone even heard of that new movie I mentioned that is supposed to come out with the APBT as the hero? I wish I remember where I heard that!

  18. Yes and this old yeller story is a very old one....how old is she?

We're pretty sure that in the movie it is not a lab mix but indeed a black mouth cur. The dog's temperment is not like that of a lab, looks only like one because of coat length and color and the dog in the movie does have a black mouth.
