Well, out little girl Eos has come down with Parvo. We are in the process of treating her with subque fluids, combiotic, and some good ol pepto bismol. Im gonna also get this stuff I looked up called Parvid. Its supposed to be and excellent All-Natural medicine. One kennel used it on 27 pups and only one passed on. I just hope she pulls through it, I belive I caught it soon enough, and isolated her, and cleaned all the areas she had been in previously. I'm also going to treat the others that might have been anywhere near where she has with the Parvid stuff.

Jeez, i pray that EOS will pull through. It sounds like your taking all the necessary steps. Hopefully, you did catch it early on enough.

Thanks every one! I gave her plenty last night to hold her through the night, I'm fixing to give her some more b/c I have to go to work for 8 hrs and my husband has no idea how to do these things. The combiotic is an antibiotic to help fight any infections the parvo may cause.

im sorry to hear that. i went through the same thing about a year ago.

unfortunatly she will probably get worse before she gets better-its one of those things that just has to run its course.
Keep her warm and hydrated! it sounds like you are doing all the right things though :) good luck with her

Thanks. She is in a crate isolated from everything in our building, with a heater, so she's pretty warm. The poor thing looks like a hunch back dog with the fluid in her.

I went through this about 3 years ago with my male Bud. He almost died on us b/c we signed the papers to have him put down at the emergency vet. Then about 7:00am the next day they called and said he was fine, eating and drinking. They didn't get around to euthinizing b/c they got really busy after we dropped him off. Can you belive they asked me if I was mad at them for not putting him down!! LOL!

Sorry to hear. My Dog, Cuddles, had parvo as a puppy. It is a hard thing to go through, but I noticed she has been a very strong and health dog because of it. I hope Eos pulls through. She is an awesome dog.

Don't give the Pepto Bismol. It's an aspirin derivitive and can actually irritate the stomach and intestinal lining and make things worse. Go with Kaopectate if she can hold it down.

If you can get your hands on Centrine (inj.), that's your best bet.

    Good luck!

I'll have to try that. I was just going by Ed's book on what he uses for Parvo dogs. He also listed Kaopectate.

She seems like she's getting alittle better. She is up moving around, drinking water and holding it down. Her gums are nice and pink healthy looking. I think we caught it in time before it got real bad, or she just got a mild case of it.

    Thanks for the update.

Just keep an eye on her though. Unfortunately, that same virus is known to work it's way to the heart. It's one of the main reasons the dogs that get better end up dead out of the blue.

I'm definitely not trying to sound pessimistic, I just want to make sure this little pup makes it so she needs to be really really watched. And I know you are just the people to take that special care of her. :)

I believe Kapotacte changed its formula and now has asprin in it. There is a pet brand in the petstores that is kapotacte w/o the asprin. It has or is named kaolin/pectin.

Sucks companies change their formulas .. confusing.

    good luck with your pup!
    from a pet site:
    "
CAUTION: Kaopectate includes bismuth salicylate as an ingredient. "

go to the vet and just ask for the injectables,,, they will sell them to you they don't cost much,,, my vet gave me NAXCEL and METOCLOPRAMIDE and something else to help them from throwin up,,, get ready when mine did it they all ended up with it,,, cause if one has it they all was exposed if not you'll be one lucky person but it does come with breeding and that why i don't breed any anymore till i want more than all the ones i got now,

glad to hear she is doing better. keep up the great work. i would watch the other pups close it ccould be a little while before they show any signs of parvo. maybe you got lucky make sure you treat the area where you kept the puppies. My vet told me the area where the parvo germ can remain on the ground for 7 years you can lime the area and this helps kill the germ. lots of luck

Well, today she is doing much better!!! :) She actually ate about a 1/4 of a can of chicken and rice food along with some more water, and she walked around her kennel wagging her tail, and even jumped up on the fence.

I'm so glad she's recovering so quickly! Just goes to show you that if you take the right steps and pay attention to your dogs, you can catch things like this WAY before it gets past the saving point.

Thanks everyone for the support. I was worried I would loose her to this, she has so much ahead of her in ADBA, just look at her father....ADBA CH by 7 months old, and produced many young CH's. We plan to breed her to her 1/2 brother Helm's CH Two Face aka Lars, thats after she makes CH, though. You can check them out on her pedigree if you want! And thanks agian everyone!
